December's First
All born on the first of Decemb-o and submitted for your approv-o - two successful managers of beloved N.L. franchises (one of them one of only six shortstops to ever win the NL MVP award, if undeservedly), one of the NFL's best-known roid-inators, a Full-Bodied Italian, a former S.I. siren who married a Ranger, a statuesque sculpturess, a black-bat-wielding baseball banger, one of baseball's founding racists, a murderous druglord and inspiration for a No Masian classic, Mexico's greatest golfer, Portugal's captain, a Sri Lankan cricket legend turned politician, a speed-skatin' Canadian, the first Canadian ever to win the NL MVP, a mad Mongolian wrassler, one of the greatest athletes in the history of the Soviet Union, one terminally unhappy Knicks fan, and the funniest man who ever lived and a true patron saint of the entire No Masian enterprise.

I love No Mas. From the gear that I have, to Large's columns. But one thing I don't approve of is the glorification of Juan Pablo Escobar.
Unlike Tony Montana(who was actually based on the 1932 movie of the same name), I don't think Escobar is great. If you think about it, there are people across this world, who are mourning family members due to Escobar's violence. What's 'cool' about that? I-berg. Lose the fixation.
You make a fair point, Gman. Tyson is a very bad man too, an admitted rapist. Strawberry - wife-beater. Obviously, Pablo Escobar is in a different category of bad, and reviled as he was he was also loved and revered as a modern day Robin Hood. Generally No Mas has a fascination with violence. As, I know, do you. Your point is that so long as it is Tony Montana and Tony Soprano, its not a problem, because that's fake. I'm not so sure you can completely hide behind that argument, but nevertheless, your central point stands - anyone who lost a loved one to the ruthlessness of the medellin mafia would surely be disgusted by the sight of a manhattan hipster in a "pablo" shirt. If that's going to be the rule, however, you better start crusading hard on all that Che shit out there.
nuff respect, Large. You hear that Che? I'm on you mothafucka.
It breaks my heart that you would choose a George Foster Mets card and not one from his Big Red Machine years. It's that stache, isn't it? So unfair. Mid-70s Reds were never allowed to be anything but clean-shaven.
Irene, look - I feel you. And I looked for a good Reds shot. But I do always love to use the idiosyncratic Unitas-as-a-Charger-type pics for the birthday roundups, and that Foster Mets shot is priceless. Forgive me. Of course, he's always a Red in the Hall of Fame of our hearts.
just dont ever put joe willie in that rams jersey.
ill be riding dirty up no mas lane if u do

I read Killing Pablo and agreed this was an evil dude beyond Tony Montanas wildest dreams. The genesis of this shirt was more about playing with the rap fantasy of Pablo Escobar (and Steve Garvey) than the reality. But still if somebody who really dealt with plato o plumo wanted to jump my shit they would be justified.
Nice point Large on the Che front and that does for or man Fidel too obviously. Tragedy + Time does not always = comedy. Word to Alan Alda.
Stay tuned for the Hitler throwback Varsity Fall '08. Shit is bananas
