Zizou: Voir la Vidéo

Nicole writes the following to us here at No Mas:

"Just paused to watch the Zidane video. You should look at it if you haven't. It's on the home page of Canal Plus, click on "Voir la Vidéo."

For one thing, his choice of outfit deserves commentary. Oh, and his lovely soft Marseille accent. It's not hard to understand why all the schoolgirls are smitten. But the content is interesting too. He says that his action is "not pardonable" and apologizes to children, etc. but he also says that every reaction of that sort has an action it is responding to and that the orginal actor ought to be held responsible as well. Also, Le Monde reports something different than what you said about the terrorist claim. Here's the passage:

"Michel Denisot lui a demandé si la réalité "recoupait" ce qu'avaient rapporté les tabloïds anglais qui, s'appuyant sur des spécialistes de la lecture labiale, ont accusé l'Italien d'avoir dit : "On sait tous que tu es le fils d'une pute terroriste." Zidane a juste répondu : "Ben oui"." In other words, the interviewer asked him if what happened corresponded to what the British tabloids had published on the basis of the lip readers, namely, "We all know that you are the son of a whore terrorist." Zidane merely responded, 'well yeah.' However, I didn't hear this part in the interview on the web site - I think it might have been cut out - the web site version is clearly edited.

Another interesting section that you might like to see is at the very end when they show shots of the crowd at the Place de la Concorde supporting him when the team appeared at that balcony."

the writers at "le monde" sure know how to get people talking... how do they seem to get every major scoop from the tour and lance to this?

"Le Monde" is one of the most serious publications in the world. When they say something, you can bet your life it is true. They're extremly trusted accross the world.
Kinda like the Times and the NYtimes a few decades ago.
