Madsear's Guide to the Champions League
Can you feel them coming? The Semi-finals of the UEFA Champion's League are here and they have the distinct taste of beer and pudding. Three teams out of four belong to the Premier League and it would be hard not to notice the insulars' supremacy this year.Manchester United vs. Milan AC
Manchester United took it all this weekend in London at the Professional Footballer's Association with both personal and collective honors going to the team. Cristiano Ronaldo was named PFA Player of the Year and PFA Young Player of the Year by a jury of his peers. The ManU squad managed to include eight of its players in The PFA Premier League Team of the Year, only leaving crumbs to their opponents. So, hailed as the most skilled team in Britain (I don't believe they're the best just yet), the Mancunians will defy a team that has won the Champions League trophy six times already.
The bad news on the English side comes from the fact that seven of its players won't be reporting for duty on Tuesday night because of various injuries - Milan could very well take advantage of that situation and obtain a draw. One thing's for sure, Milan won't yield seven goals and they will not be as naïve as AS Roma two weeks ago. They also have one of the most skilled midfields in the world with Kakà and Clarence Seedorf playing alongside Gennarino Gattuso and Pirlò. Scholes, Ronaldo and Giggs will definitely have to work harder than they did Friday if they want to win this one.
See you tomorrow for the Chelsea v. Liverpool preview.

I really can't see Manchester going through after this game.
I dunno Mad, I thought the same thing after the first leg against Roma. We all know how that ended.
Fuck all that shit. The Blues will dispatch them threefold.
note: I'm recording tomorrow's contest. No spoilers please.
UM, I really don't understand how you could be a Chelsea fan. Please tell me it had something to do with Zola.
Madsear, it'll be tough. I could see it happening. All they'd need is one moment of madness in a one-goal game to grab the tie, something that could happen against a Milan team that doesn't really have the firepower to put teams away.
Zarko, statistic-wise, they only have 24% chances of going through after winning 3-2 at home.
First of all the pitch at San Siro is not as wide as Old Trafford's.
Second, they'll drain the field so that Ronaldo and Giggs are not as fluid as Kaka and Seedorf.
Third, Man U will have to play with a defense that has never played with each other again. Where do you put Gaby if Evra's out and Ferdinand's injured. They'll have to play with Fletcher and smith. To make things worse, "super pipo" will start with ambrosini.
I don't see manchester winning unless they learn how to create a catenaccio this weekend.
My bet for the final is Chelsea-Milan.
I'm afraid that's the most likely result, yeah, in which case I'll have to root for the earth to open up and swallow the final.
Heinze will go out left, I think, and they'll have to hope that Rio and/or Vidic is healthy enough to play in the middle. I have a feeling that Sir Alex is sandbagging whether Vidic will be ready or not.
I heard this morning that they're trying to get Rio fit for wednesday and that in the meantime they're trying out a new defense with fletcher taking o'shea's place and everyone but brown switching to the right.
That should be interesting to see Heinze back at that position. That was the reason why The Boss bought him in the first place from Paris.
