Today in Roid History
There's really a new category of sports reminiscences nowadays - Roid Memories - and today is a banner day for The Power of Roids. Sir Barry Bonds, King Roid himself, hit his 71st home run of the season on this day in 2001, breaking Mark McGwire's previous roid record of 70 set in 1998 (another great year for roids). The video below is a home-movie of the event that someone posted on YouTube. One thing it really captures is that people were a lot more enthusiastic about Bonds back then. Remember that in 2001, the size of Bonds' gigantic freaking roid-head already had prompted specualtion about his roidliness, but the shit didn't really hit the fan for him until 2003, when his trainer, Greg Anderson, was indicted in the BALCO case. (If you're feeling like commemorating this very roidly day, feel free to pick yourself up one of our BALCO specials in Giants' colors from our store. It's just another thing that we here at No Mas offer to help bring the experience of roids home to you, the fan.)

Why do you think that despite the ongoing and deepening steroid situation in baseball, attendance and enthusiasm haven't waned as many expected? Even individual players haven't really been crucified in the public's view the way most were expecting. Isn't it odd?
