K.O.W. - Tito! Tito!
No Masians, I'm sure you can imagine what I think about the Roy Jones/Felix Trinidad fight. The last we saw of Tito, he was being out and out humiliated by Winky, and that was over two years ago. Meanwhile, Roy Jones, once among the most exciting pure talents in boxing history, has now turned his career into a once-annual humiliation tour - one fight each in 2005 (humiliating loss to Tarver), 2006 (humiliating win over Prince Ajamu), and 2007 (humiliating appearance in the ring with somebody whose name I don't care to remember.) Suffice it to say, the Roy/Tito bout is a joke, and I'm surprised to read today that it looks like HBO is going to take the bait and run this as a PPV sometime in January. I'll say it now and I promise to stick to my guns - I will not buy this fight. That said, both of these guys were glorious in their heydays and rather than dwell on the ignominious present, in true No Mas fashion I'd like to revisit the more harmonious past. Roy has already starred in a Knockout of the Week (The Legend of Roy), so for today's K.O.W. I thought I'd throw some love to Tito by featuring his startling, stentorian stupefaction of William Joppy in 2001, Trinidad's last hurrah as an undefeated fighter before Bernard busted his brains out later that year. Enjoy.

In his prime he was a vicious-vicious man. A calculated cold blooded assasin of the highest rank.
Did anyone else ever stop Joppy?
This is as good a place to ask this question as anywhere.
A buddy wants his bachelor party in 1st half of '08, and he wants to have it around a big fight. NY, Atlantic City or Vegas. Is it too soon to start planning? Have any '08 fights of note been announced? Anything not yet announced but figuring to be a great early '08 fight? Any advice would be helpful. Thanks.
Roy/Tito is the last week of January but that's gonna be a shitshow. I don't know of any other '08 fights with a set date.
Good question about Joppy, and the answer is no. I just checked on Boxrec. In fact, he's only lost four times in his career, and his only other two significant losses were to some decent opponents - back to back UD's to Bernard and Jermain in 2003. Also, he's still out there swinging away - his last bout was a first-round TKO at the Armory in DC last spring. I wonder if Unsilent was there.
Also, no significant bouts scheduled for next year yet that I know of. Roy/Tito is supposed to be at the end of January, but it's not made yet. Vargas/Mayorga could potentially have to wait that long given Vargas's health situation.
"I wonder if Unsilent was there."
He was unaware such a monumental event was taking place.
You could cross your fingers and hope for a Pacquiao - Soto match-up. Should they win their respective fights this fall, shit could happen.
I would love to see Pac-Man vs. Vallero myself.
Shit, I'd watch Manny fight a speed bag.
This is just horrible news.
I'd much rather remember watching Tito beat Fernando Vargas so bad he couldn't be interviewed after the fight.
Paq-man vs Juan Marquez is the fight that I've been waiting for!!
