Maxie Rosenbloom 
The light-heavyweight champion of the world from 1932-34, Maxie Rosenbloom originally earned the nickname “Slapsie” for his open-handed punches. But for a man who’s credited with 299 pro fights in the Ring Encyclopedia, it’s not surprising that the moniker came more to refer to Maxie’s lovable punch-drunkenness, a role he played to the hilt after he left the ring and took to a full-time career as actor, late-night character and all-around man-about-town. The logo on this t-shirt comes from Slapsie Maxie’s famous joint on Beverly Boulevard in Los Angeles, where he was often to be found carousing with movie stars or consorting with gamblers or just passing time with yet another of the tall drinks of water that always seem to pour your way when you’re good and punch-drunk like Maxie was. In other words, punch-drunk like a fox.
