CYCLISTES
The UCI (Union Cycliste Internationale) annually organizes World Championships (or Championnats du Monde in French) to determine the finest cyclists in the world. The oldest of these events is the Track Cycling World Championships, which were held for the first time in 1893 in Chicago. The first UCI Road World Championships were held in 1927, and since then world championships have been added for mountain biking, BMX and cyclo-cross. The winner of the Championnats du Monde is recognized as the world champion for that year and is traditionally awarded a highly-prized rainbow-colored jersey that he can subsequently wear in races during his year-long reign as the worlds best. We took the logo for this t-shirt from an old French cycling program from 1964, when both of the premier events were held in France, the road championships in Sallanches and the track championships in Paris.
