Rumble Update
posted by Large
The Rumble is back up. Lot of problems over there last week, as I’m sure many of you saw. The Sporting News server has been crashing regularly and taking down all of their sites. But thankfully, it’s back up and running just in time for fight week. Just a reminder to all you Masians – all of our usual big-fight business will be going down over there, including the prognog and accompanying contest.
One more word – while we’re all going apeshit over May/Marquez, our man Kurt is headed over to Germany to watch his fighter, Giovanni Lorenzo, fight Sebastian Sylvester (one of the worst two-first-name names I ever did hear) for the vacant IBF middleweight strap. Let’s wish Kurt and Giovanni well and hope they come home with the belt in tow. For those of you who missed it, here’s my interview with Kurt from the summer of 2008 about the arc of Giovanni’s career.

As most of you know, I’m an old head here at The NoMastian. A true old schooler to the fullest. I just got back from a trip and was excited to read the latest of The Mas and then this. It is 6:45am and I just went to my refrigerator and opened up a brew and poured some out on my Harlem Rooftop for The Mas.
I’m a bit stunned to be honest. I’m like a boxer who has dominated for 12 rounds to see the other guy get the decision…I’m just looking around for someone to tell me this is a bad dream…yes, hands to head in disbelief.
I can’t lie, I seen it coming. When I wrote my candid piece about my torn feelings about seeing The Mas at Bloomies.

I will always have love for The Mas and all the people who made it special for me…from soccer to boxing…The Mas kept it real.
Also, I want to give a shout to my brothers in arms…those who were willing to put themselves out there on the comments section. I learned much from you…we might just be another name at the new site…but let’s keep to our old ways and keep it above the belt there and not get into flame wars with those that make outlandish comments looking for attention.
In closing, you will probably see me from time to time over at the new location…I will sign my name:
The Rooster
X-Mastian for life!
Holla!

rooster, I think that street cred is a pretty absurd concept dont you? We all know that what has gone on at this site has been great times for all, and has heightened the experience of following various sports for us all.
I think that it’s worth getting excited about the idea that on a wider platform the guys that write here may be able to introduce others to the great ideas and opinions that have made this site so great. Personally I think that if a bigger range of folks is educated as to the ways of the mas then it can only be a good thing?
I know you might be unhappy about possibly seeing members of the Ed Hardy douche massive rocking mas t’s but it’s really a small price to pay for the prosperity of the ideas that underpin this site isn’t it?

I’m all for the masses. I just always liked the idea of our little click here. Without a doubt I’ve been sporting some of these shirts for many years around the city…those with street cred get a nod from The Rooster here in NYC when I see them with a NOMAS shirt.
It is like in American Me when they all get the cross tat on their hand…it was our own thing.
I’m happy for the guys..they work hard and made very little money for so many years…not sure how either of them got girls on their income and living in NYC. They were fighting on the undercard for many years and had Don King as their promoter…LOL! I kill myself.
In closing, this is my last post her at the Mas…going to miss it but time to write a new book…but damn what a great ass novel this was.
Cheers!
