Large on Pound 4 Pound Radio
I talk primarily about the Bradley/Campbell situation on last night’s Pound 4 Pound show. Just a note – the widget takes a second to load. If you click on it, wait ten seconds or so and then try clicking on it again. There’s probably a better one out there, but you know how it is. I’m like, almost 40. I need a seven-year-old to explain this shit to me.

Senator Joe McCarthy “the maniac from Minnesota”?!!!( I’m sure the good people of Minnesota don’t want to take ownership for the insane Senator from Wisconsin)……the Showtime card was like “when your 92 year old grandma’s back hurts and says ‘I had a bad day’….WTF is the host talking about?. It was a bad night for boxing when the two fights suck. And if your grandma’s back hurts all day…it was a bad day. You were good Large, but whoever the host of this show is awful.

Great write-up…get your Ali shirts at No Mas. The Rooster is not paid to advertise how dope the shirts are….they just are. Nuff said.
In closing, I like the back and forth between you and the host…good dialogue.

I agree with Jason’s premise that it was a bad night OF boxing not a bad night FOR boxing (the whole black eye analogy used for the millionth time). Boxing wags tend to overreact when TV fights end in a disappointing fashion. Bottom line, the ref in the Bradley-Campbell fight made the wrong call.
It happens to officials all the time in other sports. In the NFL, all they do is issue an apology. (Anyone recall how the Steelers and the Chargers got apologies last year for blown calls – cost the Steelers a touchdown, cost the Chargers the game against the Broncos).
In boxing you at least get a chance to appeal the result and possibly get it overturned. I would hope that the CA commish does overturn it. Though I agree with Large (finally having seen the fight) that it looked like Campbell begged out of the fight with a cut that didn’t look so bad – if the butt caused the cut and the doc called it off before the completion of five rounds -that’s a NC. The Rahman-Toney II fight ended in nearly the exact same circumstances and that was overturned. Campbell has the precedent – he should get the NC on appeal (though I don’t know what good it really does his career).
